Mike King

Mike King is an educator who has authored and teaches three courses at Berklee Online, Berklee College of Music’s online school: Online Music MarketingMusic Business Trends and Strategies, and Music Marketing 101. Mike authored Music Marketing: Press, Promotion, Distribution, and Retail for Berklee Press in 2009, and was recognized as the Best Music Business Teacher by the National Association of Record Industry Professionals in 2011.  Mike is currently the Chief Marketing Officer for Berklee Online, at Berklee College of Music.

Mike has served as a project manager, freelance writer, technical reviewer, managing editor, instructor, and Marketing Director for a number of companies including Rykodisc, CNET, The Herb Alpert Foundation, Focal Press, and Berklee College of Music.

He has written for American Songwriter, Making Music, International Musician, and Hypebot, and has been quoted in The New York Times, NPR’s Morning Edition, APM: Marketplace, Entertainment Weekly, Huffington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The Boston Globe, Wired, CNN, Mother Jones, Boston Phoenix, Music Connection, and Muso. Mike has appeared as a panelist, presenter, or mentor at a number of industry events, including MIDEM, SF Music Tech, SXSW, CMJ, NARM/A2IM, NAMM, Rethink Music, ASCAP EXPO, Futures of Entertainment @ MIT, and Next Big Nashville.
